8 September 2025 For the attention of Michael Cummings … and please pass this on to Eluned, with my blessings
Dear Michael
Thank you for your reply of 16 July 2025.
It has taken me a while to come to terms with the fact that my/our ‘Welsh Gov does not hold a view on whether genocide or apartheid is being committed, as this is a matter for the International Courts to determine’.
In the last couple of months or so, has my/our Welsh Gov had a change of heart regarding the barbaric Zionist policies of the current Israeli state vis a vis the Palestinian people?
No international court determines the health of my conscience, my peace-of-mind, my well-being, my integrity, my humanity.
After more than half a century of witnessing and campaigning, it does appear that Israel determines its laws and values and not the international community of nations.
As I reflect on the modern Israel, I am reminded more and more of the words of Shakespeare’s Lady Macbeth (Act V, Scene 1):
‘Hell is murky …
What need we fear who knows it
When none can call our power to account’ …
‘A little water’, sadly, will not ‘ clear (the international community) of this deed’ in Gaza.
As long as they held power, the murders the Macbeths committed were of no consequence to them. Yes, while they were in power!
As a Christian priest, with some knowledge of the biblical theology and spirituality that underpins Israel and its international supporters, my hope – especially as I think of my children and grand-children – is that our politicians and religious leaders will not be tormented by guilt – as per Lady Macbeth – and will, somehow, step back, before it is too late, from the brink of collective madness and insanity.
‘Hell is murky’. International politics is murky – but it doesn’t have to be.
A plea to my Welsh Gov, and, indeed, Senedd – please be determined to determine your own policy regarding Israel. PLEASE.
Blessings on you all, Geraint ap
